One of the more muscular wines in the range is the 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Grands Liards, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping wine evocative of blackberries, rose petals, dried herbs and spices. Its generous core of fruit largely conceals a chassis of fine, youthfully chalky tannin.

The 1.6-ha Aux Grands Liards lieu-dit is immediately underneath the premiers crus on the left bank of Savigny. Old vines planted in 1939, 1950 and 1979. Barrel sample. Heady, concentrated, somehow purple fruit. A certain raw note at the moment but great density again. A very ambitious Savigny that is not too sweet but wants to preserve every little bit of fruit in there, along with some fine tannins. A baby, and rather unusual. (JR)
The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Grands Liards has a very well-defined, focused bouquet of blackberry, briar, cracked black pepper and hints of vervain tea. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, and again, quite peppery in style, leading to a harmonious, elegant finish. Very suave.
