Score 92/100 · Drink 2024-2040, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, May 2023

The rare 2021 Bernkasteler Lay Spätlese is deep, clear and noble on the intense nose that reveals herbal slate aromas, some vegetal notes and substantial aromas from the soil. The wine is round, lush and intense on the palate. It's pretty mouth-filling yet also complex and saline, developing a long, aromatic and savory finish. It's not crystal clear but full of ripe and overripe fruits. 7% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2023.
