To be bottled exclusively in magnums, Lafarge's 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Pitures delivers a complex bouquet of spices, sweet berry fruit, incense, raw cocoa and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, deep and enveloping, with serious underlying structure, it's another cuvée that's built to age.

The 2019 Volnay Les Pitures 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with a mixture of blue and red berry fruit, potpourri and violet aromas emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, plenty of earthy red fruit with a pretty, elegant finish. NB This will only be bottled en magnum .

Started in 2015; before, it was an ingredient in Volnay premier cru. Just one pièce in 2016, two in 2019. Pebbly clay. Will put only in magnum. Cask sample. Very juicy and frank. Sweet red-cherry fruit with ripe tannins. Fresh finish. Lots of energy. (JR)
