Cask sample. Mid garnet. Powerful ripe plum fruit and lots of energy. Quite a bit of acidity and tannin and this is one of the more youthful wines in this Goedhuis selection. Quite demanding at present – much more ambitious than most village Volnays, but I think it has all the ingredients to bedazzle eventually. (JR)

The 2021 Volnay Village exhibits more red fruit than the preceding Auxey-Duresses, infused with red brick and subtle oyster shell scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, slightly powdery in texture. Spicy, white pepper and bay leaf notes emerge towards the finish. Very suave.
