The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Vaucrains 1er Cru has a tightly wound nose with red berry fruit, nicely integrated oak and fine delineation. Maybe a little conservative? The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and very well judged acidity. Impressive tension and mineralité . There is a slightly chalky texture towards the finish that shows grace and elegance. The terroir is articulated with style. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

0.98 ha (2.42 acres). Mid-cherry. Red and black fruits on the nose, Griotte cherries and distinct cassis. All very intense, but no hardness. Good volume on the palate and a real sense of presence. Lovely, finely textured tannins belie the reputation of the domaine. (MH)

Mid to deep crimson. Positively juicy start and already almost approachable with some real nerve and even a hint of delicacy and nuance. (JR)
