Score 92-94/100 · Drink 2025-2042, Neal Martin, Jan 2023

The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is aged in 20% new oak with two-thirds whole bunches (pédicelles) . This has a scintillating bouquet with mineral-rich red fruit that bursts from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly candied entry, fine definition, maybe just missing the complexity on the finish that the aromatics deserve? One to watch in bottle.

The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with aromas of plums, rose petals, spices, grilled meats, orange zest and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, supple and charming, it's an unusually sensual, giving rendition of this sometimes austere cru.
