Score 94/100 · Drink 2025-2040, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Mar 2023

The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino shows a pretty, mid-weight appearance with shiny dark ruby highlights. The wine offers soft fruit with cherry and wild forest berry at the front. On a second wave, it delivers light spice, earthy mineral and cured tobacco. Both the fruity and the savory sides of the wine are well balanced over solid tannic support and balanced freshness. Production is 29,000 bottles.

This is a lovely wine, bright with plenty of momentum, nothing too structured or concentrated, reflecting the vintage style. Packed with raspberry fruit, orange peel and fresh acidities in abundance. Compelling for being light on its feet while still delivering a ton of flavour. You feel the air under its heels, and it is made for food. Winemaker Pippo d'Alessandro and Alessio Sostegni, 33ha estate, owner Marcel van Poecke.

Lustrous mid ruby. A tiny bit reductive and closed right now and only showing savoury, minerally hints. Lots of suave, polished marasca-cherry fruit with finely grained, but firm, tannins and super-attractive, supple, tangy acidity. Still not entirely open but with lots of potential. (WS)

Lovely purity of fruit with aromas of peaches, plums, ripe cherries and lemons, alongside some spice box and moss. Medium to full body with fine, creamy tannins. Wonderfully juicy and approachable with a supple and seamless finish. Drink now or hold.
