The 2019 Bourgogne Rouge offers up expressive aromas of red cherries, rose petals, cinnamon and orange rind, followed by a medium-bodied, ample and charming palate framed by lively acids and melting tannins. It's produced from lieu-dit Magny in the commune of Meursault.

0.22 ha in Meursault but in Bourgogne AOC land (Les Magnys close to Ormeau). Arnaud: ‘I think of it as a Meursault Rouge not a Bourgogne’. Son Pierre is especially keen on the reds. No oak, ever, on this wine. ‘I treat it like the whites and rack before harvest’, explains Ente. Used to use whole bunch – great trend – but prefers no whole bunch because now he has a truly efficient destemmer. Made in tank and raised in glass bonbonne. Tank sample. Transparent cherry red. Very charming for early drinking. Much rounder and more welcoming than in the old days. A real step up! Very long. (JR)
