Score 88-90/100 · Drink 2014-2022, Robert Parker, Aug 2014

A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc from limestone soils, the 2013 La Carre possesses good body and texture for the vintage as well as attractive aromas of chalk dust, blueberries, raspberries and a hint of background oak. Good purity, an enticing texture, decent acidity, and sweet, well-integrated tannin suggest it will drink well when released, and over the following 7-8 years.

A one-hectare single vineyard. 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc. 300 cases per year. Sweet, fruity nose. Much softer and juicier than their Ch Laforge. Quite firm on the palate, but nicely balanced. Furry finish. (RH)
