The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Perrières 1er Cru has just a touch of acetone on the nose, more like a lift of VA that complements the vibrant red and blue fruit. This does improve and settle down with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and vibrant, with fine-grained tannins, a keen line of acidity and mineral tension on the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

Deep crimson. Something a little like sour plums on the nose. Then attractive polish. Sturdy, honest burgundy – definitely something to get your teeth into and sufficient fruit concentration to withstand the extraction. (JR)
