Full bottle with an annoying wax foil all of 1,480 g. But I have to admit this is very good value in the burgundian context. Very pure, well balanced and fresh with some richness and burgundian savour – though no obvious oakiness. Vibrant and fresh. GV (for burgundy). Tasted alongside Ultreia, it is a little more lifted and sophisticated. (JR)

The 2018 Bourgogne Rouge offers pleasant light tertiary/undergrowth scents on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannins on the entry, dark berry fruit laced with brine, leading to a cohesive, slightly sinewy finish. Fine.

Blackberry, plum and smoke. Slightly rustic tannins just detract a little from an otherwise straightforward burgundy. (TJ)

The 2018 Bourgogne Rouge, which contains 15% whole bunch, comes partly from Hautes Côtes de Beaune and partly from Maranges itself. It has a very pretty bouquet of red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit. The palate is fresh on the entry with crunchy red berry fruit and good acidity. A little rustic and short but shows good vigor.
