Notes of pear, clear honey, ripe melon, white flowers and almond paste introduce the 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanée, a medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated wine that's satiny and enveloping, its ample core of fruit framed by chalky extract and succulent acids.

Outstanding. Here too there are fermentation aromas on the nose that crowd out all but suggestions of spice. More interesting are the very rich and quite full-bodied flavors that possess a powerful but refined mouthfeel that terminates in a very dry, youthfully austere and well-balanced finale. This beauty of a La Romanée is also going to require at least some patience.
