The 2013 Aloxe-Corton Clos de Chapitre 1er Cru is like shoving your nose into a punnet of freshly-picked strawberries on the nose, and that is not an unpleasant thing to do. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, fresh for a 10-year-old, with leather and game on the finish. Maybe it just lacks a bit of length, but otherwise, a commendable or what you might call "useful" wine.

Bright cherry-crimson. Interesting vegetation/autumnal nose. Very charming and round on the palate with the tannins well hidden under bounteous fruit. GV ? (JR)

The 2013 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Clos de Chapitre, which had finished its malolactic fermentation at the beginning of September and sees 25% new oak, has a tightly-wound bouquet with strawberry jam and raspberry notes: conservative, but nicely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, moderate acidity and quite a grippy finish that suggests it will need a couple of years in bottle to soften. This is a good solid, no-frills Aloxe-Corton.
