The 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru has a slightly pinched nose with red cherry and strawberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, yet, surprisingly, I find this a little green around the edges, a trait that I never picked up on last year. I will put a question mark against my score.

Cask sample. Sample smells just a little tired. Juicy and sweet with enough acidity and freshness so it will probably be fine. A little saltiness. Lots of honest yeoman character. (JR)

The 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru has a fragrant, floral bouquet that is prettier and more complex than the Les Jarrons tasted alongside. The palate is very finely balanced with fine tannins, but there is also a superb structure here, and the sapid finish gets the saliva flowing. Great potential.
