The 2018 Pommard Village (Maison Louis Jadot) is showing creditably in bottle, exhibiting aromas of spicy berry fruit and plums, cedar and new oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and muscular, its generous core of fruit is framed by youthfully assertive tannins and succulent acids.

The 2018 Pommard Village has a generous bouquet of blackberry, raspberry and red currant fruit that would benefit from a little more definition. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and moderate weight, and it tapers in a little toward the finish. Not bad, although I prefer some of Jadot’s other Village Crus this year.

Louis Jadot

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
