Good medium red. Aromas of red cherry, licorice, smoke and pepper. Densely packed if youthfully unforthcoming, conveying an impression of stuffing without weight. With aeration, this revealed complex, tangy flavors of raspberry, minerals, brown spices, tarragon, licorice and pepper. Boasts good mid-palate energy and lovely lift on the broad, palate-coating finish. An excellent, youthfully understated example of a 2004 that's already elegant and juicy and should gain further in complexity with bottle aging.

Good red-ruby. Vibrant aromas of black cherry, licorice and pepper. Suave and sweet but also quite juicy, with fairly dense flavors of licorice pastille and dark fruits. Finishes with fine but firm tannins, the nicely integrated acidity intensifying and extending the fruit.

Pale rim. Smudgy, indistinct nose. Very sweet start. Intense flavours. Hard finish. Tough. (JR)
