Score 88/100 · Drink 2020-2036, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2019

Aromas of succulent red cherries, dried flowers and currant leaf introduce Drouhin's 2016 Côte de Beaune, a medium-bodied wine with tangy acids, youthfully chewy tannins and a bright core of fruit that's just a touch compact and firm on the finish. My sense is that the 2015 rendition has a slight edge over the 2016.

Thirteen months in oak. Bottled. Light to mid cherry red. Really dark red fruit but with the sweetness of cherry. On the palate, beautifully sweet-fruited, deep and generous in fruit and still perfectly balanced. Delicious, and lightly tannic on the finish. (JH)
