More mineral and incisive than its communal sibling, the 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Mazures offers up notes of pear, white flowers and almond paste. Medium to full-bodied and delicately textural, this hails from a superior lieu-dit below the premier cru Champs Gain.

Tank sample. Subtle, complex, finely mineral without loss of clean, pure citrus fruit. Precise and intense with impressive length. Lovely wine that keeps on giving. So moreish. (JH)

The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Mazures 1er Cru is generous on the nose with a slightly petrolly, almost Riesling like personality. The palate is fairly straightforward with orange rind and ginger notes, yet it is just missing some tension and vivacity on the finish. Maybe here the growing season dictates the wine?
