Deep, saturated red. Sexy dark cherry, raspberry and smoke on the perfumed nose. Sweet, rich and pliant, with complex dark fruit and soil tones; attractively round and lush. Finishes with very suave tannins and lovely aromatic persistence. This wine, which was in a sullen stage when I tried it a year ago, has turned out very well. Much more a wine of finesse than the young 2006.

Medium red-ruby. Black cherry aroma is a bit less deep and convincing than that of the Carelle. Supple on entry, then rather closed, even severe, in the middle, and showing slightly tart acidity today. I don't find as much depth here but Boillot notes that these vines use cordon de royat pruning and generally produce a lower crop. Finishes with chewy tannins. Certainly in an awkward phase today.
