Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2000-2007, Pierre Rovani, Apr 2000

As is generally the case, Bertrand Ambroise's 1998 Corton-Charlemagne is a big success. Harvested at 13% natural potential alcohol, it displays a floral, spice-laden nose. This broad, concentrated, expressive, and intense wine is medium to full-bodied, and has an extremely long, well-focused finish. Liquid minerals, anise, and ripe pears can be discerned throughout its extensive personality. Projected maturity: now-2007+. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083.
