The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières 1er Cru feels a bit staid on the nose compared to its peers. Yet, it opens nicely with aeration, with touches of orchard fruit and dewy meadow. The palate is well-defined with crisp acidity, quite dense and concentrated and missing a little mineralité and tension on the finish that has a hint of struck match reduction. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

Notes of citrus oil, fresh apricot, pear white flowers and wheat toast preface Carillon's 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping wine that's a bit more delicate and fine-boned than his Folatières or Combettes.
