Ripe, indulgent cherry fruit on the nose. Succulent and mouth-filling on the palate, with gorgeous stemminess giving contrast and persistence. Beautiful tension with high but rounded acidity. There's a leaf-litter element just emerging too. Very impressive. (RH)

The 2016 Cornish Point Pinot Noir has a very pure, perfumed bouquet with red cherry and blackberry scents and hints of pressed rose petals. The palate is well balanced with supple tannin, notes of red cherries and crushed strawberry and a caressing finish. It does not quite deliver the intellectual aspect of Felton’s other Pinots but it will drink well for another decade.

Warmest year ever until 2018. Low acids and early harvest. Felton Road picked at the lowest sugars ever (maybe too early?), while their neighbours were still cleaning their bins. Rather dry and simple at the moment. A bit pinched on the end. Grainy tannins. Lots of texture. Still very embryonic, but this opened out to become very gorgeous with time in the glass. Long. (JR)

Cornish Point was planted in 2000, so these vines are just entering their prime years. The 2016 Cornish Point Pinot Noir features dark berry notes and hints of thyme, coupled with ample weight on the palate and a soft dusting of tannins on the finish. It's approachable now, but it should age gracefully through 2025.
