Score 88-90/100 · Drink 2022-2036, Neal Martin, Jan 2020

The 2018 Pommard Les Pezerolles 1er Cru has a Volnay-like bouquet of blueberry and blackberry aromas that feel quite extravagant. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit laced with minerals, offering black currants and cassis toward the slightly monochromatic finish, which needs to muster a little more personality by the time of bottling.

Aromas of raspberries, plums, smoked meats and rich soil tones introduce the 2018 Pommard 1er Cru Les Pezerolles, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and muscular wine that's quite firm and concentrated, hailing from old vines. This will need some time.
