Score 93/100 · Drink 2015-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2014

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. Among several red Cortons tasted blind, Prieur’s Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru ‘11 has one of the most sophisticated and cerebral aromatics. It is well defined with blackberry, raspberry, mineral, black tea and marine influences that hold your attention. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe and supple tannins, nicely judged acidity and a harmonious, silky, almost Vosne-like finish that lingers in the mouth. This constitutes one of the finest offerings from Jacques Prieur this year.

(90% new oak; picked relatively late, on September 6; 12.2% potential alcohol chaptalized to 12.6%): Good dark red. Oaky aromas of raspberry, chocolate, leather and game. Quite ripe but brooding and youthfully medicinal, with a note of menthol austerity counterpointed by a sexy suggestion of white peach. Finishes with suave, fine-grained, building tannins and a repeating peach note. This fruit ripened very slowly in 2011 and it was necessary to wait to harvest, noted Nadine Gublin. Offers superb texture for pinot noir with 12.6% alcohol.

(from grapes picked with 12.2% potential alcohol on September 6): Bright dark red. Very fresh, pure aromas of raspberry and crushed rock. Sweet, dense and weightless, with strong minerality carrying through in the mouth. Finishes subtle, savory and long, with a saline element and harmonious tannins. Tight today but not austere.
