The 2018 Barbera d’Asti Bricco della Bigotta is dark, fleshy and super-expressive. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, mocha, licorice, spice, earthiness and worn-in leather all flesh out in this Barbera d'Asti. The 2018 comes across as a bit light in body and also a touch forward. I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later.

Like all the Barberas from Braida in this flight, the alcohol content is recorded at a hefty 15.5% here, but the 2018 Barbera d'Asti Bricco della Bigotta shows a lot more ripeness, sweetness and rich concentration across the board. This expression is just heavier and denser. You sink your teeth into this red wine. There is oak spice and toasted cinnamon, and the wine carries extra fruit weight. Production stands at about 10,000 bottles.
