Tasted blind. Deep crimson. Both floral and oaky black fruit. Big, thick tannins and a lack of fruit at the core, so the finish is a bit drying. (JH)

The well-defined 2020 Cos Labory has more fruit intensity than the Connetable de Talbot: black cherries and raspberry coulis , freshened by a touch of pine. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet entry. Plenty of fleshy raspberry and strawberry fruit meet with a dab of green bell pepper toward the finish. It's just a bit monotone compared to others. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Darker cherries, fresh plums, damp earth, and leafy tobacco notes all emerge from the 2020 Château Cos Labory, a quintessential Saint-Estèphe that's medium-bodied and has a supple, elegant mouthfeel, fine tannins, and a great finish. Another brilliant Northern Médoc with so much to love, it will keep for 15-20 years.
