The 2017 Lestage Simon offers terrific depth and plenty of character. Sweet tobacco, cedar, mint, sweet pipe tobacco and crushed flowers give this tasty Haut-Médoc lovely complexity to match its mid-weight feel. The 2017 has turned out nicely. I would give it 6-12 months in bottle to allow the tannins to soften a touch.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Lestage Simon has a nose of baked plums, dried Provence herbs, stewed tea and fallen leaves with touches of balsamic and dusty soil. Medium-bodied, the palate is a little tart and chewy with a general earthiness to the character and an herbal finish.
The 2017 Lestage Simon offers attractive red berry fruit on the nose that seems to blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, good structure, fresh blackberry and raspberry fruit and fine tension on the tobacco-tinged finish. This is well worth seeking out.
The ruby/plum-hued 2017 Chateau Lestage Simon comes from the team of Michel Rolland and is a medium-bodied, charming effort loaded with notes of chocolaty herbs, tobacco, licorice, and assorted red and black fruits. It’s nicely balanced, with light tannins and a solid finish. Drink it over the coming 8-10 years.
