Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux tasting. The 2012 Château La Couspaude has a slightly muted bouquet compared to its peers: blackberry, leather and earthy notes, but it remains stubbornly sultry. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, chocolaty and here, the oak overwhelms what fruit there is. This is a bit disappointing. Tasted January 2016.

Tasted blind. Blackish crimson. Pale rim. Rather sour and with slightly underripe fruit without enough juice. Awkward. (JR)

A little stodgy and dry on the end. Very stolid with a hint of stewed fruit. (JR)
