Score 93/100 · Drink 2020-2035, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2019

The 2015 Barolo Serradenari (with 6,000 bottles made) offers robust intensity with dark tones of black fruit, tar, smoke and ash. This wine, with fruit from La Morra, offers dark and savory characteristics that give this Barolo a much deeper and more profound center of gravity. You could imagine a pairing with game meat or roasted pork. In terms of mouthfeel, the wine is streamlined and tight, but don't underestimate its lasting power.

La Morra. Tasted blind. Lustrous mid ruby. Concentrated but subdued with some depth and with savoury notes. Sappy red fruit and with a firm structure that is a little austere. In-built elegance, but right now it has gone into a reluctant phase and is unwilling to show it all. (WS)

La Morra. Aged for 30 months in large oak casks. Similar nose to the 2015 La Tartufaia, but amplified in every aspect. Concentrated and focused palate with a fine, lasting acidic nerve running through it. Gorgeous, elegant and with persistent tannins. (WS)
