2022 Moulin St Georges

Tasting notes
The limestone slopes of Moulin Saint-Georges allowed the Vauthiers to produce a wine with 3.51pH despite the warmth of the vintage. The nose is sweet and rich – with confit cherry, plum compote, cherry kernel and a hint of vanilla. The palate is fulsome with more of that ripe, generous fruit, cut by the surprising freshness and smooth tannins. Blend: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc

The 2022 Moulin St Georges has turned out nicely, retaining its bright, vibrant signature despite the warmth of the vintage. Offering up aromas of cherries, berries, bay leaf and a deft touch of toasty oak, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and velvety, with good density and cut and a penetrating, mineral finish. It's produced from a seven-hectare, west-facing vineyard opposite Ausone that always ripens some 10 days later than Ausone itself.
The 2022 Château Moulin Saint-Georges is a riveting Saint-Émilion, offering black raspberries, black cherries, truffle, spicy oak, and crushed stone. Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, it’s full-bodied, pure, and layered, with a seamless mouthfeel, no hard edges, and a blockbuster finish. This is yet another finest-to-date release in a vintage that has produced many.
This has the joy of 2022 with the depth of Moulin St Georges, salty, saline, oyster shell, juicy, crushed rocks, coffee, cocoa bean, liquorice, espresso, saffron and sage. 100% new oak. Harvest September 19 to 26. A buy, wonderful stuff from the team at Ausone.
