The 2015 Volnay Clos de la Rougeotte 1er Cru, a monopole of the domaine , shows assiduous stem addition on a nose of bell pepper and undergrowth-leaning-toward-mulch scents that I personally admire. This is a complex and quite involving bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, well judged acidity and a gentle grip in the mouth. It feels focused and self-assured, confident in its own skin. With wonderful precision and impressive length, this is a seriously fine Volnay for long-term drinking. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Big and round and user-friendly. Quite evolved and with lots of obvious ripe fruit. Rather drying finish. (JR)
The 2015 Volnay Clos de la Rougeotte 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet with brambly red fruit, pressed flowers and light minerally scents. This is fresher than some of its peers. The palate is nicely framed with a silver thread of acidity. A dash of soy perks up the red fruit on the nicely detailed finish. This is ageing very nicely.
