The 2022 Siran has an expressive bouquet with blackberry, blueberry and crushed violet petal scents that are well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a graphite-infused entry. Impressive weight, good grip, quite classic in style towards the slightly muscular finish, but it will mellow with bottle age. Good potential. A cracking Margaux and one of the best values from the appellation. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

Aromas of minty cassis, herbs and pencil shavings introduce the 2022 Siran, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and lively wine that's seamless and integrated. This is an especially strong effort for this estate.

I loved the nose on the 2022 Château Siran, a complex, medium to full-bodied Margaux with plenty of black cherry and plum fruit, some chocolate, violets, and floral nuances, ripe, polished tannins, and a nicely layered, balanced style on the palate. Based on 53% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 11% Petit Verdot, raised in 35% new barrels, give bottles a few years and enjoy over the following two decades or so.

The 2022 Siran, bottled in May 2024, offers brambly red fruit with touches of sous-bois , pressed flowers and cedar. It opens nicely in the glass with suggestions of dark chocolate in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and accents of black pepper and clove. This wine surprisingly comes across a little Saint-Julien in style, and is somewhat austere for the first ten minutes. Then the fruit returns, as if playing peek-a-boo. Give this two or three years in bottle.

In the south of Margaux, this property has 36 hectares of vines. There’s an unusually large proportion of Petit Verdot (13%) in the vineyard, something which the team feels adds finesse, concentration and a spicy finish to the wine.
