The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Cras 1er Cru is a little disjointed on the nose at the moment, though it eventually offers attractive undergrowth notes. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin and fine acidity. Quite conservative at the moment, but after racking I am sure it will stretch its arms.

Racked to tank mid November and will be bottled before Christmas. Just below Les Damodes but this wine is more intense and darker fruited on the nose than the village wines (ie than the declassified Damodes). Lightly spiced and fragrant and more substance on the palate. More structured, even though the tannins are fine. Nevertheless, a lighter style of premier cru. Slight chew on the finish. Not charming but well-defined and precise. (JH)
