2022 Les Forts de Latour

Tasting notes
This is a clear step up from the Pauillac de Latour – with more delicate, pinpoint aromatics. Pure blackcurrant fruit is complemented by parma violets and a chalky perfume. There’s concentration here, with power and breadth to the palate, but a wave of juicy redcurrant washes over the finish, making this feel moreish.

The 2022 Les Forts de Latour has another very classy bouquet with pure blackberry, violet and cassis scents that blossom in the glass. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, lovely balance, very pure in terms of fruit, with graphite-infused blackberry that fans out on the finish. Simply a brilliant Les Forts de Latour. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.
The 2022 Les Forts de Latour is excellent, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cassis, dark berries, violets and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's dense and lively, with chalky tannins and a long, penetrating finish. Half the blend saw one racking fewer than normal, but in other respects, élevage was entirely classical.
