Score 89-91/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Feb 2020

Blossoming in the glass with a lovely bouquet of raspberries, cherries, dried flowers and blood orange, the 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Village is medium to full-bodied, lively and precise, with fine-boned structuring tannins and succulent acids. As usual, it's largely derived from the lieu-dit Beaux Bruns, part of which is only entitled to the communal appellation.

Mid crimson. Ripe but much fresher on the nose than the Gevrey. Ripe but fresh cherry. Firm, a bit tongue-tied on the palate at the moment but there's enough fruit to balance. (JH)

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Village comes from two climats, the majority from Les Beaux Bruns. This cru seemed to be missing some lift and energy on the nose, coming across rather static in the glass. The fleshy, ripe palate offers maraschino cherries, raspberry preserve and a touch of white pepper. Forward and willing to please, yet not a profound Chambolle-Musigny.
