Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2016-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2014

The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru la Garenne has a more refined bouquet than the '13 Champ Gain: very pure with more peachy aromas filtering through. The palate is well defined and shows a touch more tension and edginess than the Champ Gain at this stage, although I feel that the best Chassagne 2013s show more persistency. Still, this might hold a few surprises when it is in bottle.

From his aunt. 80-year-old vines. Great density and race. Something pretty wild and floral. Really edgy – as though biodynamic! Exciting and with some richness. (JR)
