The 2019 Mâcon-Chardonnay Clos de la Crochette is especially good this year, mingling aromas of fresh bread and crisp orchard fruit with hints of drawn butter and almonds. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and textural, with excellent cut and a long, saline finish, it's well worth seeking out.

3 ha. Monopole. Clay limestone. South facing and one of the earliest ripening – even though it’s way north of Milly-Lamartine and a little north of Uchizy – because it’s lower elevation. Half fermented in foudres of 50 hl. Very pretty and nicely married but a little fatter than the Uchizy. Acid on the end. Not that long. (JR)
