The 2017 Volnay Les Petits Poisots was aged in 25% new oak. It has the best bouquet of five wines from Domaine Jean Guiton that I tasted in London. This is very well defined with vibrant red fruit and more mineralité than the Beaune Les Sizies. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins and a slightly hollow mid-palate that leaves you wanting more. Not bad, but for a Volnay this requires more substance and grip. - Neal Martin

Mid cherry red. Dark-fruited and a touch spicy on the nose. Elegant and almost discreet. Some oak presence on the palate but all balanced by the fine fruit. (JH)

The 2017 Volnay Les Petits Poisots, matured in 20% new oak like Guiton’s other Premier Crus, has a very floral bouquet of black cherry and blueberry fruit complemented by peony and violet aromas. The palate is smooth and harmonious, the spiciest of Guiton’s cuvées that I tasted, with a finely proportioned and quite persistent finish. Excellent, especially considering that this is a not a premier cru .
