Score 96-98/100 · Drink 2030-2070, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Aug 2022

The 2020 Pinot Blanc Wehlener Klosterberg *** is precise and flinty on the deep, pure, intense and concentrated, for the moment wonderfully aromatic, even fruity bouquet with noble sur lie and very fine, imbedded oak aromas. Great definition here. On the palate, this is a very concentrated, rich and powerful, highly elegant and enormously salty Pinot Blanc with very fine tannins and great intensity. The acidity is ripe but also concentrated and cuts through this slightly cloudy sample like a search light through fog. The finish is very intense and long. Aged in noble Burgundy barrels for 18 months, the 2020 is going to be bottled in August this year and will need 6–10 years to become the show stopper the wine already pretends to be. Definitely a wine to pre-order. Release date: unknown. Tasted as a still-to-be-filtered sample in July 2022.
