The 2021 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru has a sapid, marine-tinged bouquet with a hint of iodine and blackcurrant leaf, gaining clarity with aeration. A background scent of grilled hazelnut develops with time in the glass. The palate is tangy and spicy on entry. A thickly textured, weighty Meursault, it feels a bit reductive towards the finish. It's just a bit heavy work. A little disappointing after its showing in barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru has a straightforward nose, with clean and crisp fruit, but perhaps just missing some personality at the moment. The palate is very well balanced with hints of sour lemon and orchard fruit, quite dry and austere on the finish, but it gets the saliva flowing. Fine.
