Gaiole. 90% Sangiovese, 10% ‘other varieties’. Certified organic. Mid ruby. A little closed, with notes of fresh red fruit and hints of pet shop. Pure sour-cherry fruit on the palate with fine tannins. Slow to open up on the finish and then very long and vibrant. (WS)

Wild herbs and pure red fruits are expressive in the 2020 Chianti Classico, with tomato leaf and raspberry liqueur. Medium bodied, with ripe tannins and a warming yet weightless finish, it has a profile of black cherry, tea leaf, and saline earth. Pure and classic, this is a killer value. Drink 2023-2033. The Stucchi Prinetti family has helmed this Monti del Chianti-based estate since 1846, with the sixth generation being led by Emanuela, Paolo, and Roberto Stucchi Prinetti. Based in Gaiole in Chianti, the estate also features an extensive hospitality program, a restaurant on site, cooking classes, and guest room accommodations.

The 2020 Chianti Classico is soft, fruity and easy to like. I would prefer to drink this easygoing, forward Chianti Classico over the next few years, while the Sangiovese fruit remains vibrant.
