The 2020 Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru has a graceful bouquet with touches of black cherry and licorice developing in the glass, with more iodine notes emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid red fruit, grippy and firm, with just a bit of dryness towards the finish. But otherwise, this is a fine Pommard Rugien that might require patience. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru comes from nearly century old vines that still produced up to 40hl/ha. It has a very harmonious bouquet with earthy red fruit, loamy, lovely graphite scents that emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine definition, very saline in the mouth, quite pure with a structured, marine-influenced finish. Excellent.
