The 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé Château des Quarts 1er Cru Monopole was bottled a little later than other vintages. It has a bright, vivid nose with green apples, lemon rind, crushed rock and a slightly smoky scent. The palate is well balanced with a grippy entry. It's concentrated and shows fine acidity, with a minerally, lightly spiced and persistent finish. Very cohesive and harmonious, yet I feel it needs time in bottle to show what it can do.

Winemaker is now Olivier’s son Théo. This from the much older vines. The Clos des Quarts is a monopole within the Aux Quarts premier cru. Cask sample. Real depth here – an obvious testament to the power of older vines for this wine just goes on and on! Of interest to lovers of classic Pouilly-Fuissé. So long! (JR)
