Score 90/100 · Drink 2023-2033, Jeb Dunnuck, Apr 2022

The second wine of Monbousquet and based largely on Merlot with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2019 Château Monbousquet Angélique De Monbousquet has a ripe, black fruited, smoky, graphite, gravelly earth-driven bouquet as well as medium to full-bodied richness on the palate. Nicely textured, with firmer tannins but plenty of flesh, as well as length on the finish, it's going to benefit from just a year or so of bottle age and have a good 8-10 years (or more) of longevity.

60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Barrel sample. Expressive fruit and light but fine tannins but the oak appears excessive for the wine. Charry notes and sweetness with the finish slightly drying. (JL)
