Cask sample. Lightish cherry red. Gently scented with red fruits and an attractive peppery lift. Light framework in harmony with the zesty, flirtatious fruit. (JH)

The 2015 Beaune 1er Cru Teuvillans, which comes from the Pommard side of the appellation, has a lifted bouquet with blackcurrant and raspberry scents, a touch of chalk, the 40% whole bunch neatly integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant chewiness on the entry, quite saline in the mouth with a structured, but very focused and fresh finish. This is a very well-crafted premier cru that will end up towards the top of my banded score.

(40% vendange entier ; from clay soil with a lot of rocky limestone): Palish red. Much more decadent on the nose than the Marchand-Tawse wines from the Côte de Nuits, offering aromas of strawberry, smoke and earth. Supple, smoky and adamantly dry in the mouth, with a distinctly saline quality and good energetic minerality. Finishes with slightly tough tannins and a touch of dryness.
