Derived largely from the Côte de Beaune, the 2019 Bourgogne Rouge bursts with aromas of sweet berry fruit, plums and sweet spices. Medium-bodied, succulent and charming, with lively acids and a nicely defined finish, it has turned out well.

The 2019 Bourgogne Rouge had just been racked when I tasted it, though it represented the whole cuvée. Mainly from the Côte de Beaune and aged mostly in foudres with a small percentage of new wood, it has a fragrant red cherry and cranberry bouquet. The palate is well balanced with crunchy black fruit and a touch of graphite on the finish.
Mainly Côte de Beaune, especially Pommard. Mainly aged in foudres. Less than 10% new oak. 15% village St-Romain and Monthelie in here. 25% Côte de Nuits AOC Bourgogne sites from Vosne and the Hautes-Côtes. (So he can’t call it Bourgogne Côte d’Or.) This final blend has been racked into tank three weeks ago. It will probably be bottled in December. Bright blueish crimson. Bright, light fruit with noticeable acidity. Lighter than many – flirtatious. Taffeta texture. Crunchy finish. (JR)
