Score 88/100 · Drink 2013-2016, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2012

The 2001 Barolo has aged quite well. Boroli is one of the only producers who showed a straight Barolo, and I have to say I was impressed with the way this entry-level wine has aged. The bouquet shows early signs of tertiary complexity, but the fruit remains powerful and quite full on the palate. Dark red fruit, truffles, mint and spices linger on the finish. The oak is a bit present considering the wine's structure, but this is still a fine effort.

The Boroli family had made just a few vintages by the time 2001 rolled around. These early wines capture an early stage in the estate’s development. Importer: Dalla Terra, Napa, CA; tel.
