The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a tightly wound nose that required some aeration before it offered the redcurrant and cranberry fruit, dark chocolate and subtle tarry scents. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy tannins, quite Morey-like in terms of structure with a dash of black pepper towards the finish that tapers slightly.
50% whole bunch vinification, 25% new wood. First to be picked. Pretty ruby-purple colour. The nose here has the elegance and charm of Chambolle with the lifted fresher qualities of the whole bunches. Fresh raspberry and alpine strawberry, avoids the herbaceous note to be found in Clos Village, and has good acidity, refined tannins and fine length. Well made and enticing. Tasted: December 2021
(from Bas Doix and Aux Echanges; vinified with 100% whole clusters). This is also aromatically very pretty with its blend of ripe and fresh dark berries, violet, anise and tea. The delicious medium-bodied flavors possess a relatively refined texture while exhibiting good if not exceptional length on the youthfully austere finale. (88-90)/2026+

Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini was established in 2012 when Florence Heresztyn took over her family domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin with her husband Simon Mazzini (who originally comes from Champagne).
