Score 92/100 · Drink 2021-2031, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2021

The 2018 La Mauriane showed beautifully, with an up-front, fruit-loaded perfume of red and black fruits, flowery incense, candied violets, tobacco, and sandalwood. With medium to full-bodied richness, a round, supple, elegant texture, gorgeous tannins, and outstanding length, this beauty is well worth seeking out and is hidden gem in the vintage. Drink bottles any time over the coming decade.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 La Mauriane displays quite a lot of cedar at this stage with a core of baked cranberries, blackberry tart and plum preserves plus hints of chocolate box and menthol. Full-bodied with a firm line of grainy tannins and loads of red and black fruit preserves layers, it has a spark of dried herbs freshness on the finish.
