The 2015 Château Lamothe-Bergeron is a beauty, with an up-front, medium-bodied, nicely textured style that's loaded with ample red and black fruits as well as notes of tobacco, earth, and gravelly minerality. It's balanced and will certainly put a smile on your face over the coming decade.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Chateau Lamothe-Bergeron has an attractive bouquet with blackberry, bilberry and touches of crushed violet. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity but it just runs out of ideas in the last third. Up until then it was perfectly decent. Tasted September 2017.

55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. Round and sweet, with all its corners already rubbed off. Very accessible initially and almost sweet, with no shortage of tannin hidden underneath though. (JR)
